Kelvin Boston
Kelvin Boston is an African American businessman, TV financial journalist, and best-selling author. Kelvin is the CEO of Moneywise Media, LLC, a steaming TV services company located in Centreville, VA.
He was raised by Astor Boston, a single parent mother, in the public housing projects in South Wilmington, Delaware. He attended Lincoln University in Oxford, PA. After graduating from Lincoln University, he returned to Wilmington, where he started the city’s first non-profit housing counseling center.
In 1978 the Neighborhood House - Housing Counsel Service was established to help South Wilmington’s low- and moderate-income residents become homeowners. Today, the Neighborhood House – Comprehensive Housing Counseling Center is a HUD certified housing counseling agency that served 376 households in 2024.
Kelvin’s interest to serve other led him to become Mayor William Mclaughlin’s Special Assistant for Community Relations and later IDS – American Express’s first Mid-West Regional Manager for Financial Planning. At IDS – American Express, Kelvin worked with many African Americna families in Toledo, Ohio. During this time, he saw the need to increase financial literacy in underserved communities.
To address this need, Kelvin moved to Detroit, MI, where he created the Financial Insight television programs on a public cable channel. The nation’s first financial affairs show for people of color was later rebranded the Moneywise with Kelvin Boston TV show.
Moneywise with Kelvin Boston became the longest running multicultural financial program on public television stations. Kelvin is best known for his Moneywise TV series, Moneywise Faith Based Empowerment Tour, and best - selling book Smart Money Moves for African Americans.
Kelvin is a former FDIC advisory board member. In 2025 he founded Trust Edge IoT. Trust Edge provides security solutions for internet connected devices and companies of all sizes.
The New York Times has referred to Kelvin Boston as an “outspoken voice for economic empowerment.”
